Every type of internet shutdown has a significant and negative impact on human rights, including freedom of expression, freedom of information, and freedom of assembly. In 2020, Myanmar's election campaign, candidates used social media as an Internet, especially Facebook. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the off-line campaign was limited and the online campaign was the best way to connect electors. The MIP recorded the manner in which candidates used the Internet for the 2020 election campaign.
