Introduction
This report compiles and analyses airstrike incidents carried out by the military junta between April and June 2026, and provides a comparative assessment of communication accessibility in affected regions. This report also examines the impact of internet shutdowns and airstrike attacks on civilians living in conflict areas.
Data Collection
The Myanmar Internet Project collected data on airstrike incidents on a daily basis from independent media outlets and regional news agencies.
Number of Airstrike Incidents from April to June 2026
The Myanmar Internet Project recorded 520 airstrike incidents from April to June 2026. Of the recorded incidents, 510 strikes - or 98.08% - occurred in areas experiencing internet shutdowns.

Number of Airstrike Incidents Across Regions and States
Chin State was the hardest hit region, with 122 strikes recorded, followed by Sagaing Region (101) and Rakhine State (98).
Approximately 62% of all total airstrike incidents occurred in these three regions, which are currently engaged in intense armed conflict with the military junta. The areas were found to be the focus of the military junta’s offensives aimed at regaining territorial control, with a heavy reliance on air power during military operations.

Townships Affected by Airstrikes, by Region and State
Between April and June 2026, airstrikes hit a total of 87 townships across 13 regions and states, except Yangon.

Sagaing was the most affected region, with 20 townships hit, followed by Rakhine State (13) and Magway Region (9).
Civilian Fatalities During Airstrikes
The 520 airstrikes killed at least 314 civilians. About 95.5% of deaths occurred in areas with internet shutdowns.

Among those killed, at least 58 were women, 41 were children, and 15 were elderly people. The data highlights that civilians living in communication-disrupted areas are most at risk of harm and fatalities due to aerial attacks.
Note: Due to communication constraints in some airstrike incidents, the actual number of deaths may be significantly higher than the reported figures. |
Infrastructure Damage Due to Airstrikes
From April to June 2026, a significant amount of infrastructure was damaged in the 520 airstrikes carried out by junta forces.
These include 22 religious buildings, mostly monasteries, 17 schools, 7 hospitals and clinics, and 5 internally displaced people (IDP) camps.

All landmarks hit by airstrikes were located in areas with communication shutdowns. Damage to infrastructure such as hospitals and clinics will have an impact on healthcare access for local populations. Furthermore, attacks on IDP camps and religious buildings, including monasteries, have left civilians in conflict-affected areas even more vulnerable.
Conclusion
Based on data analysed by the Myanmar Internet Project, the following findings were identified:
The military junta relied heavily on air power in its attempt to regain territorial control.
Airstrikes mostly targeted communication-disrupted areas, therefore civilians living in these regions are most at risk of harm and fatalities.
Damage to critical infrastructure such as hospitals and schools will impede access to healthcare and education.
Airstrikes targeting IDP camps and other displacement sites have left civilians in conflict-affected areas even more vulnerable, further undermining their ability to survive.
